Southern Cross Television Tasmania to change Digital Transmission Parameters
Southern Cross Television Tasmania has advised Digital Broadcasting Australia that they will be carrying out changes to their digital television parameters on Monday 2nd April and Tuesday 3rd April 2007.
Southern Cross Television has advised DBA that it intends that Northern regions of Tasmania will change on Monday 2nd April 2007 while the remaining Southern regions of Tasmania will change on Tuesday 3rd April 2007.
These changes are to the Guard Interval (1/8 to 1/16) and FEC (2/3 to 3/4) parameters. The new parameter values are used by other free to air television networks and the changes themselves are not expected to cause any problems to the majority of digital television receivers as they automatically detect the change in conformance with the international and Australian DTV receiver standards.
Nevertheless, unfortunately there are a few brands and models of digital set top box or integrated digital television receivers that don’t fully conform with the standards and these may be unable to automatically receive Southern Cross Television Darwin programming after this transmission change.
Previous experience indicates that to restore reception, the viewer may be required to do one or both of the following operations on their digital receiver:
- Perform a channel re-scan (through the set-up menu or other configuration option as per the manufacturers instructions); or
- First delete all channels and perform a complete rescan of all dgiital channels (through the set-up menu or other configuration option).
Some viewers may need to contact their receiver manufacturer or supplier for further support. The contact details for DBA Member manufacturer/supplier members support services can be viewed by clicking here.
